About Priya
Priya Persaud is the founder and director of Devyani School of Cultural Arts, founded in 2009. She has been dancing since the age of five and brings over 30 years of training and experience in Indian classical dance. She trained in Odissi at the Chitralekha Dance Academy and in Bharatanatyam at the Sampradaya Dance Academy in Canada.
Priya is deeply passionate about teaching children the beauty of Indian dance and culture, while creating a space where students can build confidence, express themselves creatively, and develop pride in their heritage.
Through dance, she hopes to inspire cultural appreciation, acceptance, and understanding among younger generations. Seeing students grow both on and off the stage, and connect with tradition in a meaningful way, continues to be one of the most rewarding parts of her journey.
